We are based at the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre, Mechanics Bay, New Zealand.
We lead a team of volunteers, trained to highest professional standards, to respond 24/7 in all conditions.
We train to make best use of resources and equipment always achieving the best possible outcome.
We are an Incorporated Society committed to Saving Lives at Sea.
We are affiliated to the Royal New Zealand Coastguard.
We are a unit of Coastguard Northern Region providing trained crews and vessels for the roster.
Two Heavy Rescue Vessels. One Rescue Vessel for the Hauraki Operating Group of Northern Region.
Heavy units ASB Rescue and LION are at sea on patrol from 1800 Friday until 2100 Sunday and public holidays. Trillian Rescue Alpha is on patrol 0800-1900 Saturday, Sunday and public holidays
Those hours are extended if still tasked or retasked by the Operations Centre.
Available 24/7/365 for call out. The duty crew will be first paged but for a 'big one' everybody is paged. As soon as a vessel can be crewed up it leaves. We expect our crews to be competent on all vessels. Not too long ago we had all three of our vessels out of the marina to a passenger ferry on fire in under 10 minutes. Even if it was a training night with a board meeting in progress and we had people at base it was a stunning performance.
